Scope

The overall purpose of this position is the management and implementation of new wireless products to expand Rogers value added services portfolio and enhance the customer experience resulting in higher ARPU for Rogers.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and launches products into the wireless market.
  • Manages cross-functional teams, executes the gating process in the development of new products and develop/execute project plans to achieve product launch dates.
  • Liaises with all cross functional teams i.e. marketing, training etc. as the subject matter expert for new products
  • Searches out new vendors and evaluates product capabilities, assesses new opportunities, develops and presents concepts to other stakeholders to evaluate potential implementation of concepts.
  • Works in conjunction with Product Management teams to jointly define business requirements and manage development and product launch.
  • Develops and manages capital budgets to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Provides project related costs i.e. IT, Engineering, Training etc. to Product Management for business case development.
  • Manages vendor relationships including negotiations, evaluations, recommendations and contracts.
  • Develops service descriptions, functional requirements and Business Requirement Documents for IT, Engineering and third party vendors
  • Liaises with all functions and departments within Rogers i.e. IT, Customer Service, Marketing, Engineering etc. to ensure the implementation of functional requirements.
  • Plans, organizes and controls project deliverables through concept, build, implementation, testing and launch.
  • Prepares presentations for senior management to review and communicate project progress on a regular basis.
  • Provides creative and proactive solutions/recommendations to project issues.
  • Develops the product strategy for the portfolio
  • Co-ordinate technical conference calls between content partners, device manufacturers and third party vendors for product development.
  • Provide background presentations and explanations of the Rogers Wireless mobile technical and security architecture as required for the portfolio

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5+years experience in developing new products related to the Wireless industry.
  • Business degree or an engineering degree with thorough understanding of business and technical details.
  • Good knowledge of current solutions and products in the wireless market
  • Strong understanding of wireless market trends and emerging technologies
  • Experience in managing medium to large scale cross-functional teams.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are important
  • Proven ability to prepare and deliver professional documents and presentations to all levels of an organization
  • Capable of working in a multi-tasking environment
  • Self motivated and team player.
  • MS Office proficiency
  • Exceptional team leadership skills and demonstrated ability to develop and manage team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively mediate/facilitate complex, high-risk or sensitive situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively present and clarify requirements, expectations, ideas and concepts to a various audiences, (i.e. team, senior management, executive and external stakeholders as required).
  • Constantly removes barriers, unproductive rules, or organizational constraints that prevent people from delivering superior performance.
  • Adjusts quickly to shifting priorities and rapid changes.
  • Holds self accountable for achieving established performance objectives.
  • Balances risk and opportunity in making sound business decisions.
