Summary

This role is responsible for NSCU's Internet channel including: outbound marketing support for reach, acquisition, conversion and retention initiatives; advancing “ease-of-use” / site usability; enhancement of the user experience; and identification of opportunities to grow NSCU's business via the online channel. Overall channel management accountability for advancing online functionality in line with the needs of NSCU's business and members, and ensuring alignment with CUCBC's MemberDirect Integrated product.

Position Accountabilities

Project Management

  • Manages time, resources, budgets for all web-related projects using industry best practices and methodologies
  • Liaises with internal/external resources and vendors to complete projects, on-time and on-budget

Product Management

  • Identifies opportunities to advance channel functionality and capabilities in conjunction with third-party vendors and ongoing marketing initiatives.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of the NSCU site and outcomes of changes

Analytical

  • Explores online data, discovering patterns, meaningful relationships, anomalies and trends
  • Identifies improvement opportunities

Business

  • Manages relationships and NSCU business needs with third-party vendors (CUCBC, etc.)
  • Translates business needs to web analytics requirements (KPIs), then creates, measures and reports on web KPIs as input to marketing strategies
  • Helps develop and manage the annual Internet plan and budget in conjunction with AVP, Marketing

Online Marketing and Brand Building

  • Drives traffic to NSCU.com through integrated campaigns, online branding tactics and principles
  • Uses online learnings to identify offline marketing opportunities
  • Facilitates / manages Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Search Engine Marketing (SEM), and implementation of online campaigns (banners, Adwords, keywords)
  • Coordinates email marketing – campaigns, newsletters
  • Determines strategy and implements site merchandising, including coordination of all content and messaging on NSCU.com in conjunction with marketing communications resources

Information Architecture/Usability

  • Uses knowledge of established web practices, usability testing, to suggest changes to navigation, page design, task design
  • Facilitates efficient content implementation

User Experience (UX)

  • Deploys tactics to better understand user behaviour and habits, differences and trends and develops strategies to accommodate them online.

  • Oversees/executes HTML and website development

  • University degree in marketing (Internet), eBusiness
  • Related sales and marketing certificates, an asset
