St Joseph Media – Site Operations Manager

DEPARTMENT: Interactive Media Services
LOCATION: Downtown Toronto
STATUS: Full-Time

Summary

The Site Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of each assigned online magazine. This mandate includes the management and fulfillment of all requests related to every phase of the project (and sub-projects), from initial needs analysis to full implementation to ongoing maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Assume ownership of all work related to each project
  • Assume leadership role as a web expert within a traditional print magazine environment
  • Provide project management support to online editorial team in the planning and execution of editorial schedule – monthly/weekly updates, e-newsletters, web exclusive content, online reader feedback and editorial promotions/giveaways
  • Act on behalf of the online brand when communicating with the interactive team
  • Manage the time of all resources – this includes working directly with other Site Operations Managers to ensure time is managed collectively across all brands
  • Understand all change requests to understand underlying business goals to be achieved
  • Break down requests into smaller, manageable tasks and assign to the appropriate resource(s)
  • Create project schedule and identify milestones
  • Monitor task progress to ensure timely delivery and identify potential issues that will affect time, scope or budget
  • Provide updates to all relevant stakeholders throughout process
  • Suggest process improvement recommendations as necessary
  • Apply previous web experience (design, development or other) in order to take a hands-on approach to the development of each site when necessary

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Experience in project management – specifically within a web development environment
  • Experience with teams of creative designers and developers, production staff
  • Strong familiarity with most web technologies and a basic knowledge of application development methodology
  • Experience with industry-standard design tools (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Dreamweaver) an asset but not required
  • Previous experience as a web designer or web developer considered a strong asset
