Position Summary
As a manufacturer of telecommunications products, RIM has obligations to ensure that its products are accessible to people with disabilities. The Accessibility Coordinator will assist RIM's Accessibility Program Manager in the overall coordination of RIM's Accessibility Program. The Accessibility Coordinator will provide the first-line of response for all incoming inquiries related to accessibility of RIM products and services, conduct research and testing into third party Assistive Technology solutions and competitive product accessibility features and websites and liaise with other RIM functional groups to monitor status of their accessibility initiatives (Software Docs, Ed Services, Web Services, Contact Centre, etc). The successful candidate will assist in development and coordination of PDP Accessibility projects and internal training initiatives, plan and maintain content for the Accessibility area on the RIM website and on LiveLink, coordinate preparation for outreach activities or events at which RIM participates and monitor government legislative initiatives worldwide impacting accessibility product requirements. The Accessibility Coordinator will develop and maintain Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs) for RIM products and assist with other activities within the Handheld Product Management Team such as ISO continuous improvement
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Ability to interpret customer requirements
- Solid written and oral communications skills
- Ability to interact with a high degree of professionalism
- Detail oriented, with strong analytical skills
- Strong time management skills, and the ability to deal with competing priorities
- Experience/educational background in product usability, ergonomics, human factors or kinesiology is an asset
- Bachelor Degree in a related field
