Position Summary
The Ergonomics Specialist will raise awareness of ergonomics across all levels of the organization. He/she will evaluate, propose and implement modifications to tool & equipment design, manufacturing processes, layout, workflow, job rotation, and stretch break program;
Evaluate design of furniture and layout of existing and new buildings; Determine appropriate standards globally; Facilitate manufacturing and office ergonomic committees; Perform ergonomic assessments of office and production areas and assist in implementing corrective actions; Build a global ergonomics program;Implement strategies that target the reduction of ergonomically related injuries/incidents; Incorporate ergonomics into all business processes including design for manufacturability, supply chain management, building, shipping and repair of our products; Respond effectively to ergonomic and safety concerns raised by employees; Conduct accident/incident investigations & root cause analyses; Work with usability group regarding the ergonomic impact of our products; Evaluate effectiveness and adequacy of engineering/administrative controls and personal protective equipment; Develop and deliver customized Office Ergonomics and Ergonomic Awareness training sessions to engineers, operators and office staff; Assist with the healthy workplace program and National Quality Institute requirements from an ergonomic perspective;Work with health management team to accommodate employees returning to work; Ensure compliance to applicable guidelines and standards globally; Establish corporate policies and procedures.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- University degree in a related technical area
- CCPE designation is an asset
- 5-7 years experience in a related field
- Experience with ergonomics in various countries is preferred
- Proficient computer skills
- Experience with vendor selection, cost benefit analyses, case management, work hardening programs, and physical demands analyses
- Good leadership and inter-personal skills
- Good communication and time management skills
- Ability to take on and prioritize multiple projects
- Ability to work as part of a team and interact with all levels of the organization
- Good business acumen; Ability to take initiative
- Creative problem solver
