We are currently looking for a Market Research & Product Strategist to lead us in the areas of market research, competitive analysis, pricing strategy and product bundling. A hands-on team player, this position is required to develop an understanding of our customers and their needs, our industry and our target markets relevant to our products and services. The Market Research & Product Strategist will develop and implement plans to improve business through pricing strategies, product bundling and new product development.
Key areas of responsibility:
- Market Research
- Manage all phases of market research projects
- Evaluation of client/market trends to suggest and develop strategies and tactics
- Develop and implement processes to analyze missed client opportunities, wins/losses, market opportunities, industry analysis and trending
- Working with cross-functional teams to investigate, evaluate and incorporate new and improved methodologies, models, analysis, techniques and technology used to complete marketplace research
- Provide strategic insight into the delivery of market research results relevant to internal clients
- Ground level tactical and strategic industry trending
- Provide market research for both current and new areas – identify customer needs, pain points and make recommendations on how to strengthen our position in industry
- Develop tools and reports for data acquisition and evaluation
- Target market, segmentation strategy and data mining
- Marketing list generation and analysis
- Study design, questionnaire design, data analysis and interpretation, qualitative research, focus groups, client interviews and usability groups
- Competitive Analysis
- Responsible for competitive intelligence across all products and services
- Develop competitive product and strategy research to support the needs of sales and marketing
- Track target industry and competitive events and trends; analyze and distill into actionable findings that influence product development, marketing plans and sales activities
- Analyze competitor's products and services to determine their strengths and weaknesses and market opportunities
- Pricing Strategy
- Review and recommend all aspects of pricing models and product bundles based on analysis, market needs and yield/revenue optimization initiatives across the business
- Ensure pricing strategy is reflective of industry trends and customer needs
- Product Bundling
- Work with senior management, sales and marketing to develop and refine product and service bundles for various market segments and target markets based on market research and client feedback
- New Product Development
- Work with product development to identify new product opportunities based on market and competitive research
- Liaison for marketing and development on release dates and product updates
This position will effectively build and foster relationships with internal teams and departments, to consider the needs of all stakeholders, evaluate program effectiveness and ensure focus on marketing strategy. The ideal candidate will have:
- Degree in business, marketing or a relevant technology degree
- 5 years experience in market research, competitive analysis, pricing strategy and product bundling
- Experience dealing with sales, finance, project management and product development
- A desire to join a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where your actions can directly impact the business
- A proven record in strategic analysis and a strong propensity towards aligning business decisions with accurate and reliable data
- Experience with the marketing research process of defining objectives, choosing credible data sources, analyzing the data, delivering and presenting reports
- Be results oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment and not shy away from thinking of new and creative ways to collect, analyze and report insights
- Capable of injecting new planning and analysis concepts to improve marketing and sales effectiveness
- Have a positive “can-do†attitude toward problem solving and business challenges
- Creative thinker who is able to create imaginative solutions to problems and take advantage of unexpected opportunities
- Team player comfortable interacting with different functional areas in marketing, product development and IT
