Best Tool for the Job

Joey links to about web application framework alternatives to Ruby on Rails . Great list of tools, I’ve prototyped a couple of apps using Cake and Synfony because Rails wasn’t an option for the client’s environment. I’ve been building an application in ColdFusion again, and here was the list of MVC frameworks I looked at for ColdFusion:

  • Model Glue and ColdSpring are a nice MVC and IoC/DI framework along with Arf! “Joe Reinhart’s”http://clearsoftware.net/ ActiveRecord Factory for ColdFusion
  • Mach-ii
  • Fusebox
  • ColdFusion on Wheels

“RemoteSynthesis”: has a list of open-source ColdFusion projects that includes a few other frameworks and a useful set of tools for any ColdFusion developer.

The Snakes and Rubies folks have put up videos of the December 3, 2005 event with Adrian Holovaty and David Heinemeier Hannson .

On December 3, 2005, Ruby and Python developers from Chicago and vicinity gathered at DePaul University to hear two of the leaders in rapid Web-application development debate the merits of each other's frameworks.
