Who says software innovation is dead? It looks as if a cottage industry of small developers has sprung up. I am using more software that is made by small developers. The Web and Web standards seems to be the great leveling factor for these small developers. NetNewsWire and iCal are more valuable to me because they support standards.

Most of these applications are from small software houses. There is still great software from larger organizations. Macromedia continues to amaze me with Flash, Communication Server, ColdFusion, and Dreamweaver. Apple with great tools like iChatAV, Expose, iTunes, and iPhoto.
