Bob Bailey has launched WebUsability.com dedicated to information about improving web usability. It’s a good start, but he is 7 years behind Jakob, Don, and Tog. Dr. Bailey has done some great research and promotion at Human Factors International and I am sure that he will continue to be a leader in this field.
UsabilityNews has a great article about the Top Myths about Usability. This is a great summary about the poor state of understanding of the role of usability in the web design process. My only concern with this discussion is that usability is just part of the web design process, not something bigger. As usability professionals and user advocates we need to be a part of the development life cycle, not someone that rubber stamps a design, i.e., we are not " user quality assurance "
