Tom Tullis (related posting) presented his list of top ten lessons learned. This is based on his experience of conducting and analyzing hundreds (probably thousands) of usability tests annually in the Fidelity Labs.

  • Not designing from your user’s perspective
  • Making text too small
  • Not accommodating your user’s screen resolution
  • Using color combination that are hard to read
  • Too many levels of pages
  • Bad links
  • Overloaded pages
  • Not providing sufficient navigation mechanisms
  • Not providing enough "Finding" Tools
  • Lack of Consistency
