Usability Manifesto

by davidcrow

RedesignResearch has a 10 point usability manifesto. It focuses on the usability things we need to do in the process of building software.

10 Point Usability Manifesto

  1. Use appropriate methods for each development stage.
  2. Test first what you need to understand most.
  3. Field testing approaches obtain user feedback in context.
  4. Focus on understanding the design, not just evaluation.
  5. Gather the metrics that help you understand the problem and solutions.
  6. Leverage experience in all facets of design and usability.
  7. Look at the business process as well as the user needs.
  8. Involve the user with the design process.
  9. Use the appropriate number of test participants.
  10. Offer the right documentation.

I think I’ll write my own ten points to getting better usability.
