Jay and Bianca dropped off a delicious Dolfin Au Poivre Rose – Dark Chocolate with Pink Peppercorn (which you should try if you like dark chocolate). I was marvelling at the Cooper Mini and I noticed that ZipCar has Mini’s. Driving a mini coupled with an special offer that arrived in my mailbox from my good friends at LexPR and I decided to further give up my privacy, fork over a credit card number and sign up as a ZipCar member.
My only complaint is that ZipCar automatically chose my username. WTF! That’s just a bad idea, why not let me select the username? Or at the very least, use my email address(es) as a valid username.
It looks like this is changeable under a couple of menus. Yeh, I’ve switched my username! But I found the coolest feature, it looks like I can rent cars in any of the ZipCar cities! Sweet, too bad there isn’t a Calgary location with CanUX 2006 coming up (but I’m not sure this would fly in Calgary 😉 I’m stoked.
I was checking out the reviews about both ZipCar and AutoShare. I hadn’t realized that AutoShare was Toronto-based. Nor had I realized that ZipCar was backed by Benchmark Capital. Looks like Bob Kagle is the partner on the ZipCar deal. It’s a small world, Peter Fenton who invested in Reactivity is also a general partner at Benchmark now. I’m excited to try out the ZipCar service. Love the flame war in the comments.
