September 14-16, 2006
Banff Centre, Banff, AB
Canux is the annual Canadian User Experience workshop. Canux is a non-profit grassroots event that brings world-class instructors together with practitioners for hands-on learning. It’s a small gathering, limited to 75 participants, with a focus on practical skills for user experience professionals – designers, information architects, interaction designers, front-end architects, usabilitistas, and anyone else who’s passionate about making things work well for people. It’s coming soon, so register early to ensure your spot.
We are still confirming some speakers. The price include the conference, accommodations and food. People from Toronto will have to fly out to Calgary and we can probably arrange as a group for a few mini vans to drive to Banff.
CanUX is not BarCamp
“This is not BarCamp but this is the event that sparked the TorCamp flame. David basically came back from Canux and organized the first BarCamp[Toronto]”
As Bryce points out, at CanUX last year I read about the first BarCamp efforts and shortly after started to think about a BarCamp in Toronto. CanUX is a more traditional workshop. The sessions are planned in advance. We set the program and bring in speakers. CanUX is a small gathering with hands-on workshops, tools, techniques and a chance to network with others in the field of user experience. It’s a very intimate venue at the Banff Centre. The program is shaping up to be a lot of fun (Liz Danzico is confirmed and there are others that will be confirmed in the next few days).
Registration is now open
Registration for CanUX 2006 is now open. We are doing “prix fixe” pricing for CanUX. Basically there’s only 2 prices (all prices in Canadian dollars):
- $600 – Single occupancy include hotel, conference fees, and meals
- $425 – Double occupancy include hotel, conference fees, and meals
All prices include the hotel fees, conference fees and your meals while at the conference. Book a flight on your favourite airline to YYC and share a ride with a group of us and this is inexpensive.
