Make meaning

by davidcrow

I seem to watch a lot of MuchMoreMusic recently, it must be the transition from being the MTV, MuchMusic demographic to the VH1, MuchMoreMusic demographic, i.e., I’m over 30 and no longer relevant. Sara McLachlan’s World on Fire video really struck a cord in me. Kathy Sierra showed the video at eTech when talking about how to create passionate users. Greg Wilson posted the link to the video yesterday. I’ve been thinking about how I could give back, about how I can make a difference, about how I can make meaning.

Phillip started Social Tech Brewing Co to help serve as the interaction between technology and the not-for-profit sectors. Give Meaning in Vancouver is a start up, founded by Tom Williams, which is an online charitable foundation for philanthropists that ensures 100% of all funds donated go directly to the charities. Former colleagues from Trilogy started Convio, a set of advocacy, community and fundraising tools, in Austin. Agree, disagree, but they are all contributing in a positive way.

What can we do as a community to make meaning?
