EQO – Interaction Designer/Usability Specialist

EQO inc seeking an Interaction Designer/Usability Specialist with our
Vancouver office.

EQO Communications has developed a revolutionary mobile service that
keeps people connected to their online communities and instant
messaging networks from their mobile phone. Using a combination of a
proprietary mobile soft switch platform and a presence-enabled Voice-
over-IP (VoIP) signaling network, EQO is capable of bridging online
identity, presence-based calling and Instant Messaging services to
mass market mobile handsets available worldwide.

Position Summary

The Interaction Designer/Usability Specialist will be responsible for
the UI interactive design and usability testing of all components of
the EQO service. The ideal candidate will possess interaction design
skills, including the ability to create and document navigation
structures for combined web and mobile applications. Based on input
from Product Management the ID/US will create detailed wireframes to
effectively communicate designs to product management and development.

Key Responsibilities

The Interaction Designer/Usability Specialist role will have the
following key responsibilities:

  • Identification of user needs and goals
  • Assistance to product management in defining functional
    interaction requirements specifications

  • Production of wire frames and building of interactive prototypes
    for demonstration

  • Creation of use cases that account for different users of various
    abilities and multiple circumstances

  • Maintenance of high standards of design documentation
  • Support of UI design throughout the product lifecycle
  • Performance of user-centered design research and usability testing

Education & Work Experience

  • Academic training in human factors, psychology, sociology,
    communications, or computer science (or similar related disciplines).

  • At least three years of professional interaction design &
    usability experience related to Web and Mobile applications

  • Thorough understanding of the process from requirement gathering
    through the product development cycle of successfully launched Web
    and Mobile applications.

  • Working knowledge of Web standards, Web based communications
    tools, Mobile applications, VoIP applications, online communities

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment
  • Experience planning, facilitating, and reporting on usability
