St. Joseph Media – Interactive Marketing Manager

Position Summary

The Interactive Marketing Manager is primarily responsible for developing innovative marketing programs that drive subscriptions, registrations and website traffic via on-site marketing tactics and promotions for all St Joseph Media web properties. The Interactive Marketing Manager is also responsible for managing SEO initiatives and house ad inventory. This position coordinates with brand marketing teams who focus on circulation driving, promotions strategy, and brand development for their individual brands. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who takes a bottom-line oriented approach to their work and thrives in a high-energy, entrepreneurial environment.


Integrated Marketing

  • Work closely with brand marketing teams to integrate online elements into all integrated marketing and communication programs and activities
  • Provide analysis on marketing campaign performance and optimize/grow results based on key learning
  • Work closely with brand-side marketing stakeholders on the following:
    • Planning on and off-line consumer marketing activities including guerrilla efforts, print, electronic and promotion outlets
    • Planning and promoting new product/feature launches
    • Conducting consumer surveys on current and future product launches

Online Community/Database Development

  • Develop and implement best practices in the following areas:
    • Contests and promotions
    • Management and growth of online database including newsletters opt-in lists
  • Evaluate and strategically execute a multi-variable testing plan designed to improve conversions of all online registration processes
  • Manage affiliate program including recruiting new partners

Search Marketing

  • Be key driver in the maximization of search engine performance
  • Establish guidelines for organic optimization of site, monitor search engine rankings and referrals, calculate conversions, and monitor site traffic and user behaviour
  • Develop and manage paid search programs with CPC partners such as Google and Yahoo

Circulation Marketing

  • Provide web expertise to consumer marketing and circulation department in the following areas:
    • Electronic sub-drives of virtual magazines to targeted partners e-list
    • Electronic sub-drives of virtual magazines to all SJM publications
    • Online customer service – i.e. change of address, give a gift etc.
  • Co-ordinate integrated subscription drives by working with the Central Marketing team, Interactive Media Services, Advertising Sales and Publisher/Publisher designate to ensure that every sales opportunity has an online subscription component
  • Streamline the integration of online customer behaviour data with traditional circulation analysis formulas "Response / Quantity Promoted = Response %" analysis and "Profit (Loss)"
  • Manage relationship with online fulfillment partners/vendors

Qualifications and Requirements:

The ideal candidate will:

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Marketing
  • Have 5-7 years of related experience in website, online audience development or marketing equivalent
  • Have a solid understanding of PIPEDA privacy legislation and it's impact on marketing and communication activities
  • Have a thorough understanding of database marketing best practices
  • Have strong copywriting and creative skills
