Toronto Coworking Location

by david on February 7, 2006

Anybody interested in or know of a Toronto co-working facility?

What is coworking? Brad Neuberg describes coworking as “community office space for self-employed developers and writers.”

It looks like the Centre for Social Innovation might offer somthing similar. I’ll have to ask Phillip more about his space. And I need to ask Daniel and Jevon about the Queen Street Commons

SuperHappyDevHouse , CocoaDevHouseParty and MashPit look like a lot of fun. But they are self described as “day-long hackfests”. They are events, not a place to work. These are a little more dev focused than the last set of Toronto DemoCamps

Chris directed me to Coworking space and group .

I'm interested, too. Getting out of the house occasionally would make me a bit more productive, although I'd have to get dressed before noon.

Really interesting concept. would be great to get something like that established in this town of freelancers.

Our landlord is really cool and might be interested in hosting a space like that. I'd be happy to approach him about it when you've got a bit more of a crew together & those of you who made the last DemoCamp got to see our space and the building.

My wife (and partner) have toyed with the idea of doing something similar to this when we end up buying commercial space in the Toronto area. Maybe exploring the idea of operating the space as a co-op, although we've admittedly never looked into it enough to know what that would take. The worst part about running a small business out of a home is the isolation. I can't believe I'm saying it, but I actually miss being in an office from time to time. However I don't miss someone telling me I have to be in an office, or wear pants.

Hey David-you should join the wiki and help plan the space!

I would definitely be interested in this idea. I've been thinking and writing a bit about this for a while, but haven't got any further than that. I'd love to see this happen in Toronto, I'd be interested in pitching some effort to get it done too.

I have considered getting a real job recently just so I can get back into an office. I would definitely be interested in this.
