Update: TorCamp is scheduled for November 26, 2005 at the TeehanLax offices. Check out the wiki and add yourself to the attendees list
After the success of CanUX and all the chatter about CampFoo BarCamp , I am really psyched about doing a BarCampToronto. It looks like the Northern Voice is doing a MooseCamp
The premise is that everyone attending must present something. This is great, it ensures participation. One of the best features of CanUX was the highly participatory sessions, being involved made the conference seem that much stronger. It builds on Bryce’s 10 minute presentations, and extends the discussion over a weekend.
Like MooseCamp there will be no camping involved. If you would like to camp out on the streets of downtown Toronto, more power to you, but I prefer a comfy down comforter covered bed.
Possible topics include (looking at BarIdeas is a great source of inspiration):
- AJAX in enterprise development
- Tagging and vocabularies
- Stories as a mechanism for knowledge management
- A Web2.0 conversation that doesn’t include Basecamp (LOL)
- Mashups: building Company2.0 from Web2.0
- Improving access to healthcare information
Possible Toronto-based speakers:
- Randy Charles Morin
- Amber Mac
- Blair Powers or Matt Bishop producers of This is Daniel Cook on the Web
I am planning on hosting TorCamp aka BarCampToronto . Tentatively unless we find a better space, and sponsors, it will be at Kristin’s office , but maybe someone like the Centre for Social Innovation will host us. The date, hmmm, sometime in February 2006. Contact me if you are interested.
