It is called LatitudeU ( www.latitudeu.com ) and it is a completely OPEN learning portal where anyone or any organization can provide knowledge or content on virtually any subject for free or for fees. Less than 6 months old, it already has close to 300 courses and almost 40,000 members from around the world and is growing at an astonishing fast rate. Many important sites, like Facebook or Salesforce, are not significant because of their patents, though they may have some now (I don't know). But this is no guarantee of success... neither Riya.com or Pandora.com are doing as well as many hoped (especially compared to flickr.com and last.fm, respectively).
