Toronto Geek Girl Dinner with Leila Boujnane tonight

Leila is speaking tonight at the latest installment of Toronto’s Girl Geek Dinner. Tucows is sponsoring up to 25 students by picking up their tab. This is fantastic. I had talked to Maggie Fox and Sandy Kemsley about doing something similar but I dropped the ball and never delivered. I sadly won’t be able to attend tonight, not only because I haven’t found a “Girl Geek” as my host, but mainly because I’ll be spending time with my geek girls. My sponsorship offer still stands provided I can get to the next Girl Geek Dinner, I will sponsor a table of student geek girls for the event, but someone needs to invite me to participate.

Today, Microsoft announced their internal Women’s Leadership and Development Conference, this is part of the Women at Microsoft program. The conference is only open to Microsoft employees. The program looks fantastic, a great mix of leadership and technical sessions. digigirlz is another MSFT initiative aimed at dispeling stereotypes of the high-tech industry. It’s a program that tries to provide high school girls with opportunities to learn about careers in technology.

Say “arrrrrghh” to Leila tonight for me on this Talk like a Pirate Day for me.

David, thanks! Thomas and Michele were at the GirlGeek Dinner. We missed you. I had a blast with the girls and ladies in attendance and the students. I was amazed by some of the students conversations & will post later about the evening.

Consider yourself invited to the next girlgeek dinner. Come and bring your table sponsorship. You will be my guest. Tucows was the sponsor last evening and they are extending their sponsorship as well. The more the merrier?!

Hey David & consider yourself invited! We need a speaker and sponsor for October & think you can help us out?

    Congrats on your little one!

What's this no geek girl sponsor? I though surely Aoife would be coding in rails by now? (er, or visual basic?)

in any case Michele and I will represent like the pirates and bruisers we are.
