Unacceptable, nea, criminal behaviour

Kathy Sierra is not coming to ETech because of death threats and threats of sexual abuse. WTF! This is beyond cruel, this is criminal. Kathy is an important member of our community, whose safety has been threatened. Tim Bray suggests that it is the responsibility of the community to help police these actions.

“Something is badly out of control and needs to be fixed, urgently. There's got to be more story to be told. Anyone who is remotely connected with the people doing this needs to dig that story up and tell the community. ”

Brady Forest and the OReilly conference community extend support for Kathy. I can’t imagine how Kathy must feel. All I can offer is my support. Kathy is a thought leader in this community. Her dedication to conferences, to blogging, and to sharing information makes us better. We need to support all of the members of our communities, we need to protect them from these attacks. These comments are hate speech. This type of activity is illegal and wrong.

“Kathy Sierra”: and “Chris Locke”: have provided coordinated statements about this situation. They both encourage the limitation of legislation to limit free and open exchanges.

“That said, Chris and I are in complete agreement that it would be tragic if this incident were used as a weapon by those who would limit free and open exchange. My desire is for much more open debate on this issue, not legislated limits. ”—Kathy Sierra

Its truly unbelievable, and wrong. I think at a minimum, we can support Kathy, and exorcise those involved, who still to my knowledge have not responded or apologised.
